Becoming a Fill My Cup! Student
How does an adult in Mecklenburg County enroll in the Fill My Cup! Adult Literacy and GED Preparation Services tutorial program?
Step 1 - Call
The first step is to call Fill My Cup! at (704) 605-4366 to set up the initial interview and assessment. At this initial meeting, a Fill My Cup! staff person will collect some basic information and discuss each individual's goals and aspirations in learning to read, write, perform basic math, or obtain their GED. Next, the individual will take an assessment that identifies where they need to begin studying to achieve their educational goals.
Step 2 - Assessment
Once assessed, the individual will be placed in the appropriate learning setting and given a study plan specific to their needs.
Step 3 – Tutorial Opportunities
Upon enrollment, students will share their goals for learning, and will be guided in participating in individual computer assisted lessons, individual and small group tutoring sessions facilitated by a staff person. From this point on, the student, staff, and volunteers will work towards each student's particular needs and goals. At all times during the tutoring process, both student and tutors are supported by Fill My Cup! through resources, regular contact with the Volunteer Coordinator, and through post-assessments.
Note: The entirety of this process is confidential and all services offered by Fill My Cup! Adult Literacy and GED Preparation Services of Mecklenburg County are free.
Please contact us by at 704-605-4366 if you or someone you know need help improving their literacy skills.
